Winners Week 1 & 2!
Written by Jules

The 2012 FFPC is off to a great start!  Lots of new faces in the contest, along with a mix of 2 and 3 year vets!

Each week we award $29.95 to the team that scores the most points out of all 144 teams. Here is a look at our first two weekly winners.

WEEK 1 MONEY INCORPORATED 204.05 – Ormond Rose: Starting the season off right with over 25 points each from Jay Cutler, Kevin Smith, Andre Johnson and Brandon Marshall. It’s always nice to get double digits from your kicker and defense and that is exactly what Ormond did, Matt Bryant had 17.50 (Say what? Those are WR numbers!) and over 15 points from the HOU defense. Ormond is not new to the high stakes format, he’s been playing for 8 years and finished 23rd Overall in the FFPC last year. I’ve known Ormond for several years, first through the NFFC and FFPC message boards where he goes by the same name as his team MONEY INCORPORATED and then we finally got to meet in person at the FFPC a few years back. Ormond and I have a standing total points side bet in the Pros Vs. Joes contest run by Fantasy Mojo and hosted by the FFPC. I won the first year and was rewarded with a $77 DC entry (Thanks Ormond!), MONEY INCORPORATED took last and we are at double or nothing this year…wish me luck, I will need it! You can follow the Pros Vs Joes action here. Great job MONEY INCORPORATED!

WEEK 2 TIGER’S LAIR 216.40 – Jordan Ferguson: Wow, FOUR players with over30 points helped lead Jordan to Week 2’s weekly win! Eli Manning, Trent Richardson, Dwayne Bowe and Danny Amendola (Jordan has dubbed him Vanilla Gorilla) all put up 30+ points! ShaBAM! Jprdan has been a loyal FFF listener since the days of Bobby “Go Skins” Brimmer! When asked how long he has been playing fantasy football, Jordan replied, “I've been playing fantasy football for 8 years now.  I remember my first league was just a local league...my brother had been asked to join a league and he wanted me to be a co-owner with him. We had had no idea what we were doing. We both knew a lot about football, but nothing about fantasy football. We took Clinton Portis with our first pick, and then Tony Gonzalez with our second pick.  I remember everyone made fun of us for taking a TE so early...its funny now how things have changed...in many leagues this year two TEs went in the first round! But from that point on, I was hooked!” Jordan’s team name comes from being a BIG Mizzou fan (he’s an alum!). He’s also a big St. Louis Cards fan (he named his puppy Rasmus), loves traveling and is HUGE movie buff. He has a beautiful wife Christina (pictured below with Rasmus & Jordan) and offers up this, “A word of advice to the guys out there...I made a deal a couple years ago with my wife...whatever I spend on fantasy football, she can spend on clothes. The arrangement keeps the household happy during football season.”

The Fantasy Freakin’ Football Championship (FFFC) and hunt for the coveted Godzilla-esqe trophy is back!!!!

Congrats to Kyle Miller who was our 2010 Champ! He took home $600 and the custom trophy! Also, congrats to our Top 4 money winners, look what they turned $29.95 into:

AA-Trophy

Here are the Top 4 money finishes:

1st Kyle Miller "Team Miller" - 628.50

2nd Lee Freeman "Sloppy Seconds" - 609.63

3rd Rich Dunn "Monsoon Fog" - 607.74

4th Gary Winkleman "Schoolin' U" - 603.48

The 2011 details:

Once again RT Sports will be hosting our contest! Much thanks!

The entry fee is $29.95 per team. Please PayPal me the $29.95 at:

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

IMPORTANT: Please click on the "Personal" tab when paying and then select "Other" or “Gift”.  That way I won’t get dinged the PayPal fees.

I will also take checks, e-mail me if you want that option. Everyone must be paid before you draft. No one will be allowed to draft without having paid.

Last year we paid out 100%, plus I ate the PayPal fees and paid for the trophy. This year, if you listened to the podcast, we will pay out around 92% - 93%.

5% will be donated to charity. The charity of our choice is The Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary. We choose this charity to honor Dash, who passed away last January.

And then if there are any PayPal fees, those will be deducted. If there are no PayPal fees, then the payouts will be 95%! I know, in theory, there should be no PayPal fees if everyone chooses the PERSONAL tab…

Prize breakdowns:

To Be Determined based on the number of teams.

Last year the Overall Prize was $600. That was based on 108 teams.

Last year League prizes were:

$130 - Each League Champ (Best Record*)

$50 - Each League 2nd Place (Most Points**)

$29.95 High Score of the Week for the regular season (thru Week 13).  So, even if you are having an off year, keep setting your line-up, you might come up with a Monster week to take high score!

*Most points will be the tie-breaker if two teams have Best Record

**If most points is also Best Record, the team with 2nd highest points within the division will be awarded 2nd place.

We will play a 13 week Head to Head Regular season.

The Championship Bracket will be played Weeks 14, 15 & 16 and consist of:

League Champs (Best Record)

Teams (2 within each division) with most points (not including Best Record)

TBD amount of Wildcard Teams (depends on the number of teams and will be determined based on regular season points. Last year I think we had 10 Wild Card teams).

The Championship Bracket will be a points race over the three weeks, most points win! Championship Bracket teams will USE THEIR AVERAGE POINTS FROM weeks 1-13 to start the three week race.

The Drafts:

We will have Slow Drafts (8 hour timer) and Live On-line drafts.

Regarding the slow drafts, everyone will be highly encouraged not to take the full 8 hours.  No pressure, but there are ways to keep these slow type drafts moving at a reasonable pace.  Slow drafts are a great option for folks in different time zones and different work schedules, etc.

Also, you need a Kicker & a DEF to field a valid Week 1 line-up.  There are no free agent pick-ups before Week 1, so YOU MUST DRAFT A KICKER & A DEFENSE.

DRAFT DATES (I can add and adjust times based on feedback):

Slow Draft #1 (will start when 12 teams are signed up.)

1. Jules McLean

2.

3.

etc.

Live Draft #1: (Tuesday August 16th at 8pm EST)

Live Draft #2 (Wednesday August 17th at 9pm EST)

Live Draft #3 (Thursday August 18th at 8pm EST)

PPR League! No Trading!

Free Agents:

We will use the Free Agent Acquisitions/Blind Bidding (FAAB) system.  This is a fair way to acquire free agents, as everyone has a id="mce_marker"000 free agent budget to start with and you spend it as you choose.  For those not familiar with FAAB, below is a description*.  Also, if you haven't used FAAB, please e-mail me and I'll give you more info.  I don't want anyone at a disadvantage because they aren't comfortable with how to pick-up free agents.

*"In a Free Agents Acquisition Budgets (FAAB) waivers system, each manager receives a dollar amount to place blind bids on waived players. The manager with the highest bid at the end of the waiver period claims that player and that bid amount is deducted from the team's acquisition budget. If multiple managers place an equal bid on a player, tiebreaker options are available."

The deadline for submitting bids will be Fridays at 10pm EST/7pm PST

For weeks with Thursday games, the deadline will be moved to Wednesdays at 10pm EST/7pm PST

Feel free to shoot me an e-mail with questions, I may not have covered everything in this e-mail. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

And I’m around this week if anyone wants to try and get a live draft started!!

Good luck All!

-Jules
